Well Cave, Wemyss Caves, Fife
In a cliff below Macduff Catle is the Well Cave. This cave is a double cave with the outer chamber connected by a low short passageway to the inner cave.
It is said that this cave was connected to the Castle by an underground passageway and a stairway which led up into the Castle.
There are no Pictish markings inside the main Well Cave, but there is a bone-like marking on the wall of the outer chamber. The outline of the well can be seen in the inner chamber and the stones are damp here. This cave now has a grill in front to prevent access, except with a key holder.
